Swim Ponds, Recreational Ponds, Natural Pools. There are a half dozen names for these bodies of water used for human recreation. If you are considering one... we can build it, but we won't!!!
CONSIDER, IN NATURAL BODIES OF WATER, THE POSSIBILITY OF LIVING PARASITES SUCH AS BRAIN EATING AMOEBA OR FLESH CONSUMING BACTERIA TRULY EXISTS. THESE ARE MORE COMMON IN OUR WARM SOUTHERN WATERS THAN IN, SAY, EUROPE OR THE NORTHERN U.S.
So, NO, we will not put your child or grandchild at risk to make a few bucks. It is not in our DNA to do so. And if you insist on having someone build one...
FIRST: Ask the builder for their insurance certificate, then call the insurance carrier and ask them if your builder has coverage for a natural swimming pool... if they don't know what that means, tell them a swimming pool filtered by rock, gravel, and beneficial bacteria. This is just the begining of research for you to seek out further information. Pond equipment is NOT UL listed for use in conjunction with human immsersion, especially submersible pumps.
